Eight Weeks Together

Well, today marks the eight-week anniversary of "the big move". We have tried very hard to provide eight consecutive weeks of consistancy, creating routine and building trust and attachment. I think we've made some real progress to that end.

These weeks have flown by, I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone. We've packed a lot of fun into two months - lots of beach and pool and friends and family. We think he has grown in every way, outwardly and inwardly. We are very pleased with and thankful for his progress.

The latest excitement has been Brady's motorcycle purchase. It cost him all his summer's wages he'd made up to that point, plus his savings, but he feels it was well worth it. The boys in the house are pretty excited about it. I'm happy for him, but tend to worry about the dangers of motorcycle riding. It also seems very surreal to have a 16 year-old son with a motorcycle licence (he's the youngest licenced driver on the island) and a two year-old we're teaching how to ride a little battery-powered tractor. A different kind of normal :)

As you can see, the new bike reqires much attention...

Notice Brady on the bike in the garage - its very important to go out and wave "bye" when he leaves for work.

New News

So, a few days before he turned the big 0-2, we had our annual Rotarty Festival here on GM. My sister-in-law and her sisters made a "Fish Tales" float for the doll carriage parade. My nieces and their cousins were in it. And, a certain little Nemo was asked to participate (to him, that meant not actually sitting it in the float with the mermaid as planned, but "schwimming" around beside it in Brady's arms). They won second prize.

On another note, we decided to take advantage of the rain one day. We had puddles in our yard that looked good for splashing so on went the boots and jacket with the shorts - not terribly fashionable but it did the trick. Boots with shorts is now his favorite outfit.

We planted sunflower seeds together in the spring. I tried to take a picture of him standing with one of the sunflowers but this boy does not want to stay still for long. As soon as I'd step back he'd start coming towards me saying, "Cheese" as he walked. So this is as good as it gets.

I'M TWO!

I am now two years old. There were two celebrations, two cakes, pizza (one of my favorite foods) and people and presents.

I am now 35 inches tall and weigh about 35 pounds. I'm talking a lot more and am really good at holding my crayons and using my spoon and fork. I put my face in the water at the pool now and dip the back of my head in too. I love going fast and saying "FAST" over and over while I run. I know to go get my sandals when we're going outside or in the car. I know where every New Brunswick flag is on Grand Manan because they have boats on them, and I feel it's very important to holler "boat" at the top of my lungs so everyone in the car can see it too. I know how to tell the difference between a gull and crow by their call. I'm learning how to sit on a big kid swing and hold on while somebody pushes me. I am a very smart little boy who is loved by a lot of people. I am so special!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Hmmm, this looks interesting...

Presents, presents and more presents.

What on earth does she expect me to do now?

Now can I eat?

That's what I'm talkin' about!

I like my new playset.

Something good is coming...

Another cake? This birthday thing is alright.

Happy 2nd  Birthday To Me!

A DAY AT DEEP COVE BEACH

Well, we've had many beach days so far this summer, but here are a few pics from one particularly fine day.

Sand and snacks, a fine combination.

Digging a hole in the sand is so much fun, especially when water seeps in.

The only thing about sand is - it sticks to your feet.

Brady had the day off so he came too.

Boys at the beach.
