SUMMER/FALL

Wow, time has a way of getting away from me. Summer seemed to fly by this tear, and now we're a month into school.
We had so much fun this summer - beach, pool, Toronto, and lots of friends. And, there was one major accomplishment: floating with a life jacket on, which led to jumping into Keyauna's pool with a life jacket on. We've been working towards not having to hold onto an adult or be able to touch the bottom or side of a pool (even with floaters or a life jacket) for a long time. But towards the end of the summer he lifted up his feet and let himself float for a second. It was a wonderful moment, and he was as proud as we were! We had a special supper and people came to see the videos. It was a great day!

We took a family trip to Toronto and Niagra Falls. It was a pretty long drive but we went a long with Keyauna's family and we had such a great time. One of his favorite things about the entire trip was riding the escalators over and over again at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

We had a couple of birthday parties. Trent's kids were home so we had one with all of them, complete with piƱata. The birthday boy asked for lasagne and peanut butter balls, which we usually reserve for Christmas - except for this year.

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY MORNING AND KID PARTY

NEW TRUCKS

We took a trip to White Head with Keyauna and Keely. That was sooo much fun. I even got to drive the school bus off the White Head ferry, which the kids LOVED!

We had some new island adventures this summer - hiking at Southern Head cliffs. I'd never taken him there so he was pretty impressed with it all.

Just some regular family craziness.
A spirited game of crokinole (no idea how to spell that)

Washer fun

A washer duel between cousins.

We spent a lot of time at the different beaches on the island. The weather was so beautiful and there's always kids to play with. We had a great beach summer!

He tried to clean some of the sand off his feet before he went into Nana's house. Then this happened.

We had such an amazing summer, and fall has been good too. Grade one started off well. There's been a few hiccups but nothing too major. Hockey started three weeks ago, and after two full years and starting a third, and he finally started skating using both legs. He's making progress each practice. He got a new stick because of it, too.

FIRST DAY OF GRADE ONE

SCHOOL AND WORK ARE EQUALLY EXHAUSTING!

As much fun as we had this summer, I still found some to relax and enjoy some solitude. Its good for the soul. I spent several evenings at Big Pond (among places) in my kayak.

A good book, a full moon, and a fantastic view from my front deck.
