We had a fun hike to Swallowtail one Sunday with Easton. Some days we have friends over and stay here and play. Some days are adventure days.
Setting Day was beautiful! It was flat calm. What a relief to not have those loaded boats go out in rough weather. Brady is fishing this season, too. He leaves from North Head, but because we had to be at school at 8:00 and the boats leave at 7:00 and I still had lots to do to get ready for work, we went to watch Daddy. It's always a fun tradition!
We went to the library gingerbread house night again with Keely and Keyauna. It's so much fun and really starts the Christmas season for us. Plus, there's lots of snacking.
Kellan's class did a Reader's Theatre before Christmas. Brady and I were able to go. He did a great job reading his part!
Our boy LOVES lobster, more to play with and handle and help cook and shell than eat. He's beginning to eat a bit of meat though.
The Santa Claus parade was wonderful this year. Kellan was on the church float but he really loved the cement mixer and grader.
During lobster season, Brady switched jobs and boats and it required Sherman having to teach him how to splice rope. The lesson started in the living room but ended in the basement. Loved watching them do this together.
The Christmas concert was so sweet this year. Our boy sang "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" or in his words, "Johnny Olsen Nicholas" with his class and looked so handsome. The entire K-8 cast was on stage for "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".
The last week of school before Christmas break our Student Council goes all-out. Besides hosting a Christmas shop where elementary kids can buy gifts for their parents for $1-$2 and have them wrapped, they also host Breakfast With Santa for the whole school. Grades 6-12 are served first, pancakes, bacon, oranges and juice. Then things are cleaned up and they serve K-5. It was a wonderful time, lights were dimed, Christmas music played in the background and Santa was there to see the kids.
Christmas Eve the fam came to our house after church. It's always a special part of Christmas. This year we played Watch Ya' Mouth and a couple other games after filling up on lasagne, Caesar salad, rolls, double chocolate cheesecake and homemade peppermint patties.
Christmas morning was late getting started because of Kellan's late bedtime the night before. He didn't get up until 8:00, which NEVER happens! Favorites this year were oil gear from Brady and a new wheel barrow and a crane. We had so much fun, and thanks to all who sent gifts and gift cards. We appreciate them so much. Breakfast was fritatta and cinnamon rolls, juice and coffee. We stayed close to home all day and then had turkey dinner at Sally and Durlan's since mum and dad were in Moncton with Trent's family this year.
Jan and Dave and girls arrived Boxing Day along with Mum and Dad, so lots of time was spent at Nana's, and the annual Chinese food supper and String Game was a hit yet again.
